Guitar Fragments

Jenna Gonzalez, painter, sculptor, and owner of a mano Gallery, found a different way to contribute to The Art of the Guitar.

In the midst of preparing for the event, she admits she felt overwhelmed by everything that needed to come together, but still wanted to contribute creatively to the project. Rather than taking on an entire guitar build, she turned toward something she had recently been experimenting with in the studio: collage.

Armed with stacks of guitar catalogs, books, and magazines, Jenna began cutting, layering, and assembling imagery into a dimensional composition mounted on wood and framed as an object of its own. The process became less about planning and more about discovery, allowing pieces and fragments to build rhythm, texture, and movement across the surface.

Known primarily for her painting and sculptural work, the piece represents a slight shift in process while still connecting to many of the ideas present in her larger body of work: layering, accumulation, intuition, and transformation through material.

What began as a way to simply participate became an opportunity to explore a new direction more deeply.

This original piece will be available as part of The Art of the Guitar raffle on May 29.
