CT Unscene is a documentary exploring the Connecticut DIY music scene and its community. When most people think about Connecticut, one of the last things they think of is music or the arts. Overshadowed by nearby New York and Boston as major cities for touring artists to play in, Connecticut is often skipped. But in the backyards, basements, and bars of CT, there is a thriving community of local artists and fans hiding in plain sight. Bands, rappers, and solo artists playing for up to 300+ enthusiastic and supportive fans at a time, testing the limits of these small venues. Inclusive spaces accepting anyone willing to pay the 5 dollars at the door, so artists have the chance to play their music live.
The film includes interviews from some of the most prominent bands, artists, venue owners, and supporters from the CT music scene for insight into the community and what drives them. Exploring popular genres like indie rock, hardcore, punk, and a growing rap community that struggles to build a true foundation and gain respect as the other genres in CT have. To quote a member of the CT band Solgyres, "It's chaotic in the best way."
